Last week we had part one of our annual inspection of our equipment. In order to comply with our insurance and HSE guidelines, the majority of our inflatables can be inspected by a PIPA trained inspector to show compliance to British Standards.
Nowadays, most halls, schools and community run events in the local areas of Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton and the surrounding areas request PIPA Tag numbers of bouncy castles or inflatable equipment that is to be used at their venues along with the relevant insurance details. If you are looking to hire any equipment from a bouncy castle company, it is always good practice to ask to see their insurance details to ensure you and the company are complying with the HSE guidelines.
As we have such a vast amount of bouncy castles, assault courses and slides to test and inspect we choose to book our inspections in three separate dates during the year, this allows enough time to allow our equipment to be thoroughly inspected and if any new equipment is purchased then can be booked into one of the testing dates.
For our PIPA trained inspector we use Adam Janes from ABC Leisure. Adam has been a fantastic wealth of knowledge when it comes to inspecting our bouncy castles, inflatables and action games. Giving real in sites into what HSE are looking for when documenting general checks and also looking for any signs of wear and tear on any of our inflatables.
Needless to say, all 18 bouncy castles and slides that were tested passed their inspections with flying colours. With the PIPA scheme it makes compliance as easy as possible with a data tag and unique number to each device that can be checked on the PIPA website Inflatable Play Inspection Scheme | PIPA.
Also with our new website we can input the tag numbers which allow us to keep a record of when each device has been tested and when it is due for renewal. If a piece of equipment was to run out of test then the website would not allow it to be booked out.
